OUR INSTRUCTORS
Our instructors know that wellness isn’t a concept or an antidote. It’s the total balance of all of our body’s systems. That’s why our instructors are dedicated to making the AquaVie fitness experience unique to every individual.

John Jay
Instructor
John Jay discovered the benefits of a regular yoga practice while playing football at the University of San Diego. After completing trainings in both Hatha and Power Vinyasa styles, he began instructing in 2010. Yoga’s vast array of traditions, schools and teachers allows each Yogi to blaze their own path organically; something that continues to excite John Jay as both a student and teacher. As Lao Tzu said, “A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” Currently, John Jay is leading Yoga Teaching Programs through out the San Diego community.

Karina
Instructor
Karina’s love for movement began in her hometown of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. When she was six years old she would accompany her mother to her Ashtanga classes where she would sit on the sidelines & watch everyone breathe in synchronicity. At age fourteen she took part in her first 30 day Bikram Yoga challenge – this was the first time she felt like she was a part of a community. Once in high school Karina began classically training in ballet, jazz, contemporary & modern dance, eventually leading to graduate from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. After three years dancing professionally in San Diego, Karina was reintroduced to the Yoga Collective. Now more than ever she feels the need to serve by guiding people to live a life in an awakened state of being.

Jessica
Instructor
Jessica is a certified Instructor, Personal Trainer and Precision Nutrition Lvl 1 Coach. Since moving from New York City to the beautiful Southern California coast in 2014, Jess has helped clients from a variety of ages and fitness levels push through their personal boundaries and achieve their highest goals.
She specializes in helping men and women with weight loss and muscle toning through fitness, nutrition, and a fearless mindset. She has also helped thousands of others clients in a variety of group fitness classes… everything from high intensity boot camps to low intensity barre and stretching workshops.
When Jess is not with clients she enjoys spending time in the water surfing, developing new healthy recipes and playing with her beagle, Isla!

Rachel
Instructor
Rachel has been teaching Vinyasa and Yin style yoga in San Diego since 2015 when she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher certification. She loves to be silly and playful in her classes – you will be sure to experience good humor and smiles mixed in with every class!
All bodies, identities, and experience levels are welcome. Her favorite type of class to teach is a level 1, because she strongly believes that yoga should be accessible to everybody, but she also loves to work up a good sweat and feel challenged in her own practice.
Off the mat, Rachel is a licensed clinical social worker and mental health therapist; she is drawn to the mental health benefits of movement and breathwork and will frequently tie in the neuroscience of yoga into her classes.

Angelina
Instructor
Angelina was first introduced to yoga in 2011 during her time playing professional volleyball in Spain. When Angelina moved to California in 2013, she started taking hot yoga classes after work and found that to be fulfilling and life-changing. It created a greater awareness of self: mind and body.
She completed 200 Hour RYT in 2019 and is registered through Yoga Teacher Alliance. After completing teacher training, although not initially intended, she immediately felt inspired to share what she had learned about yoga philosophy and movement. Taking her classes will leave you feeling ascended, balanced and centered.
When not teaching yoga, Angelina continues to work as board certified behavior analyst for children and adults with autism and specializes in parent training for parents and caregivers. She incorporates principles of behavior change to her yoga teachings. As a teacher she facilitates positive, socially significant change that you can measure and observe. Her experience as an athlete, allows her classes to include the perfect balance of strengthening and stretching.
